Soil Work and Fall Havest

I added more Schneider Tree Service mulch yesterday to the garden.  Before spreading the mulch, I threw a wheelbarrow full of horse manure compost on the raised beds that once were located in this southeastern corner of the garden.

The pepper plants are still producing so I left that bed alone.  Pulled the trellises and uprooted the tomato plants that produced for us this summer.

I opted not to fill up the cardboard adjacent to the door at this point.  I will use the Welford Landfill mulch.  It is not nearly as finely chopped up as the Schneider mulch.  I figure that the Welford mulch will not break down into soil quite as rapidly as what I hope will happen with the Schneider stuff.

Later, I will harvest some greens for supper tonight.  I think these are spinach greens, but I'm actually not sure what I planted in this bed.  I vaguely remember that I broadcast a bunch of clover and spinach, but these look pretty big for spinach plants.
